About the museum

Miiamilla is a museum where everyone plays! In this colourful building, originally constructed in 1937 as the main house of Kadriorg Children’s Park, children and families are offered a playful environment for experiencing and learning. While engaging in activities in the museum garden, visitors can learn gardening skills and develop a closer connection with nature.

OUR MISSION

The main goal of Miiamilla is to help make the world a place where we are considerate of other people, living beings, and nature. We set an example by:

  • sharing kindness and empathy with everyone who visits us, believing that visitors will pass on kindness, care, and empathy wherever they go;
  • being a joyful meeting place for children and families, offering memorable shared moments, full attention, and development through educational play;
  • providing early childhood and primary school museum education that supports creativity, independent thinking, collaboration skills, the development of empathy, emotional intelligence, and social skills, and helps prevent bullying.

OUR VISION

By 2028, we aim to be a well-known and beloved meeting place among Estonian families, offering colourful experiences and engaging, playful activities for families with children of all ages. Through our environmentally conscious practices, we have earned the Green Museum recognition and provide creative, diverse, and curriculum-aligned educational programmes. Children’s Museum Miiamilla hosts a variety of hobby activities and organises meaningful family events.

MUSEUM AWARDS

Since opening in 2009, our museum has received several awards. Among others, our museum education, souvenirs, and exhibition design have been recognised.

OUR STORY

The colourful museum building, originally constructed in 1937 as the main house of Kadriorg Children’s Park, offers children and families a playful environment for discovery and learning.

The Children’s Museum Miiamilla is located in the former main building of Kadriorg Children’s Park.

In this historic yet modern exhibition space, engaging children’s events and memorable birthday parties can be held. For schools and kindergartens, the museum offers a great opportunity to enrich learning through non-formal education. Visitors are encouraged to touch, explore, and actively participate in play.

Part of the Tallinn City Museum, the museum is located in Kadriorg at Koidula Street 21c, in a building designed by Alar Kotli and Villem Seidra and built between 1936 and 1937 as the main house of Kadriorg Children’s Park. The building was placed under heritage protection in 2003 and renovated between 2007 and 2009 for use as a children’s museum.
