Exhibition “The Standart Yacht and the Family of the Last Russian Emperor”

Exhibition “The Standart Yacht and the Family of the Last Russian Emperor”
May,4 – June,30 2018

Exhibition The Standart Yacht and the Family of the Last Russian Emperor is based on memoirs and photographs from the personal archive of N. V. Sablin, captain 2nd rank, who served on board the yacht Standart from 1906 until 1916.

A significant part of these photographs were made by the co-owner of the K. E. von Ghan & Co. photo studio, a famous Russian photographer A. K. Yagelsky, Court Photographer to His Imperial Majesty. He was also entitled to conduct film shoots of the imperial family. The exhibition includes photographs by K. E. von Ghan & Co., amateur photographs taken by the officers of the Standart, as well as documentary footage filmed on board the imperial yacht.

Pictures taken on board the Standart are a rare chance to get a glimpse into the private life of the royal family through these little-known photographs.

A complicated fate of the royal yacht was finished in the early 1960s in Tallinn where the ship was cut for scrap.
