Museum Night

Our museum is part of Museum Night!

From 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM, visitors are invited to explore the permanent exhibition and discover the new temporary exhibition Tallinn’s Oldest Museum.

In addition, on Museum Night, House of Peter the Great comes alive with sounds. A sound installation Tallinn’s Oldest Museum created specially for this evening offers a new way to delve into the history of Tallinn’s oldest museum. Sounds and music blend with the house, creating a unique atmosphere and revealing hidden stories and secrets. Discover Peter I House’s history through this soundscape! Sound artist: Aivo Akseli Simmo

From 22:00 PM starts Hour of Silence. At the end of an evening saturated with sounds and as a counterpoint to the Eurovision echoing across the city, Tallinn City Museum branches will turn off all sound installations during the final hour of Museum Night. This allows visitors to listen to the natural sounds of the historic buildings.

We also invite visitors to turn off their devices, speak more quietly, and be considerate of those sensitive to noise.

The House of Peter the Great is the oldest museum in Tallinn, opened in 1806. Its permanent exhibition, with a history spanning more than 200 years, features many well-preserved original objects used three centuries ago, alongside unique paintings and sculptures.
