Laikmaa\u201d<\/b>"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><strong>During this art-themed Family Day at the Tallinn Museum of Peoples, we will explore the work of Ants Laikmaa and try our hand at creating art ourselves.<\/strong><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Laikmaa made the decision to move to Tallinn in the spring of 1903. That same year, he opened a school for young artists in the very building that now houses the Tallinn Museum of Peoples. This studio-school played a significant role in the history of Estonian art and culture. Over a century later, we too have the chance to immerse ourselves in the world of art and experiment with Laikmaa\u2019s favorite painting techniques.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Family Day will take place in the same rooms where Ants Laikmaa lived and worked over 100 years ago. He described his first school like this: \u201cIn Tallinn, I got an apartment on Pikk Street in the house of von Nottbeck (diagonally across from the House of the Blackheads). The apartment has a large hall with a vaulted ceiling and four spacious windows \u2014 an ideal space for a studio.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The painting workshop will be led by the versatile artist and illustrator Katrin Kolk, a graduate of the Pallas University of Applied Arts. Her work is known for its expressive and intuitive style.
