Come and join our<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong> Independence Day festivities<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong> on 24 February 2019 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Kiek in de K\u00f6k Fortificatons Museum<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong>!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n

The lions of the Estonian Coat of Arms will be gallivanting around the museum and are up to all kind of fun and mischief-making. You\u2019ll have a chance to meet the three stout-hearted lions, learn the military marching step with all due pomp and circumstance, warm up next to the bonfires, join a guided tour or a workshop or a game, walk along the city wall while visiting four ancient towers and enjoy unparalleled views, and explore the Bastion passages independently. Oh, and a professional photographer will capture your image against the event backdrop upon your request!

Museum open at 8\u00a0a.m.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h4>\n

As the ceremony of hoisting the Estonian flag at the Pikk Hermann tower will take place at 7:34 in the Governor\u2019s Garden next to the Toompea Castle and <\/span><\/span><\/span>the museum entrances at the Kiek in de K\u00f6k artillery tower and the Maiden Tower (Neitsitorn)<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> are just a couple of minutes walk from there, we’ll\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>open <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong>the Kiek in de K\u00f6k Fortifications Museum <\/span><\/span><\/span>at 8 a.m.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong> already and at Neitsitorn you\u2019ll be able to have<\/span><\/span><\/span> the Breakfast of the Flag Hoisting Champions\u00a0(<\/a>MENU.pdf)<\/a>
\n<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong>We\u2019d recommend to book a table in advance by sending an e-mail to maiga.tamm(at)linnamuuseum.ee<\/span><\/p>\n

At <\/span><\/span><\/span>9 a.m<\/strong>.<\/span><\/span><\/span> we’ll open the caf\u00e9 at the top floor of the Kiek in de K\u00f6k<\/strong>\u00a0(Pop up cafe menu<\/a><\/strong>) artillery tower, so you\u2019ll be able to reward yourself with more than just the 360 degrees epic views once you finish the climb. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Also <\/span><\/span><\/span>starting from 9 a.m.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> and running throughout the day<\/strong> are many fun <\/span><\/span><\/span>workshops and activities<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong>.<\/strong> Games and crafts in the towers<\/strong>: colour the three-lion-embellished flags, craft badges, and paint your face, play the scavenger hunt etc.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

From <\/span><\/span><\/span>10 a.m.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong> at the Commander\u2019s Garden (<\/span><\/span><\/span>Komandandi aed<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span>) you\u2019ll be able to bask in the warmth of a <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>bonfire<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong> eating pea soup and \u201chaving fingers in many pies\u201d (Outdoor Cafe menu<\/a>) devouring scrumptious sweet and savoury pastries.<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

At <\/span><\/span><\/span>2 p.m.<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span>, when the military parade is over, we will not be done yet! The Estonian Defence League will join us in Komandandi aed<\/strong> to teach us fascinating and curious <\/span><\/span><\/span>military steps and marching styles<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span> from many realms and eras. Attention! Eyes Front! Right Dress!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Special lion hunting guided tours <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span>in Estonian, English, and Russian. As lions are everywhere, we\u2019ll give lions their due share of attention tracking them up high in the towers and deep underground.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Lion themed tours have been scheduled as follows:<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h4>\n

At <\/span><\/span><\/span>9 a.m<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span>. starting from Neitsitorn: How the lions have defended the city. T\u00f5nu Pedaru will take you through the defence and artillery towers and tell you some amazing stories. The <\/span><\/span><\/span>tour is in Estonian<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

At <\/span><\/span><\/span>10 a.m<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span>. starting from Kiek in de K\u00f6k: The Bastion passages. Julia Korneyeva will take you to the mysterious passages and tell you stories. The <\/span><\/span><\/span>tour is in Russian<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

At <\/span><\/span><\/span>1 p.m.<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span> starting from the foyer of Kiek in de K\u00f6k where you meet a lion who will escort you through the Bastion passages to meet your guide Kadi Pilt at the Carved Stone Museum. A Petrified Past: The Stone Lions and Other Stories. The <\/span><\/span><\/span>tour is in English<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

At <\/span><\/span><\/span>2 p.m.<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span> starting from Kiek in de K\u00f6k: A Journey to the Lion\u2019s Den, Mysterious Passages. Toomas Abiline will fascinate you with his knowledge while leading you through the passages and Risto Paju will make you see the carved stones in a new way. The <\/span><\/span><\/span>tour is in Estonian. <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
