Education and museum programs for kindergarden and school

As the museum educators we belive, act and share:
- learning through playing;
- supporting the child’s creativity;
- creating an environment helpful for the child’s development and socialization;
- providing a sense of security for the child.
If you are intrested in our musem’s education program:
- It’s possible to book a museum lessons on Mon–Fri starting at 9:30 and 11:00. Check out the options and book an appointment HERE.
- Please arrive with your group up to 10 minutes early, so you can get ready for the museum lesson.
- Group guides are active participants in the museum lesson, who support both the children and the lesson leaders.
- We move around the museum in socks.

- In the summer months, only seasonal museum lessons can be ordered: Fingers in the Soil and Kadriorg at Children’s Eye Level.

The education serie of six programs: ALL FEELINGS ARE ALLOWED
Through games and activities, we get to know the emotional creatures that live inside us, give them names, and learn more about them. We explore what emotions look like and how they make themselves known. Each time we focus to one emotion: JOY, ANGER, SURPRISE, DISGUST, FEAR, SADNESS. The teacher has the opportunity to arrange the order of topics for museum lessons themselves.

Museum lesson FRIENDLY STEPS
In a museum lesson that prevents bullying, we learn how to be a good, attentive and caring companion. We find similar traits in each other, we learn about feelings and reflect emotions. With the help of shadow theater, we observe a story that helps to understand both the feelings of the characters and the role of the spectator. The museum lesson has been developed in cooperation with the program “Free from Bullying” of the Estonian Child Protection Association.

Museum lesson LETTER BY LETTER
A creatively playful museum lesson introducing letters, to form words, create sentences and weave stories together. We involve our entire body and the museum space in the experience of language: we feel where sounds are created in our bodies, we dance to the rhythm of the letters and discover the words and stories hidden in the museum.
TARGET GROUP: from 4 years old – 1st grade
DURATION: 60 minutes
Outdoor lesson FINGERS IN THE SOIL 
In the outdoor lesson, we will work in the Miiamilla mini garden, where we study the natural cycle, composting and learn to take care of nature. By working together in the garden, a caring attitude towards the environment and nature will grow. When coming to the museum lesson, please wear clothes suitable for the weather and gardening.

Outdoor lesson KADRIORG THROUGH CHILDREN’S EYES

A playful tour through the colorful history of the Children’s Park. We’ll gallop through Wonderland on stick horses and find places that have now become invisible. We’ll discover old-time games and find out what animals have once lived in Kadriorg, listen to the sounds of the park and whisper our wishes to the river.
TIME: May – September

Museum lesson IN THE TINY STEPS OF AN ELF

In a Christmas-themed museum lesson, children can become elves and discover what a busy day for an elf might look like. We will explore what fun activities are part of an elf’s daily life and what qualities help them to be caring, attentive and helpful. We will learn to recognize elves and also test our skills by delivering Christmas packages to the right recipients. We will explore how elves take care of the forest and give a helping hand to winter forest birds and animals.
